••Friends in high places, yet still Working the Refs*••

Rupert Murdoch's tabloid, the NYPost, reports this truly unbelievable bit of news:

Geraldo Rivera, who -- unlike Peter Arnett, put the U.S. troops he was travelling with in harm's way by revealing their location *and* what their next move was going to be in a live broadcast on Fox by drawing a map in the sand, is not only NOT getting fired by Fox, but has apparently been told by the Pentagon that they are satisfied that he has learned his lesson, and can return to Iraq.
....the Pentagon last night said Rivera can go back if Fox gets another opportunity to "embed" a journalist with troops, Pentagon spokesman Lt. Col. David Lapan told The Post.

"As long as it is clear to him and to [Fox News] what was wrong the first time and that it not happen again," Lapan said.

Fox News officials declined to comment yesterday.

well, of course Fox's proverbial lips are sealed.

Now that former media coach for Bush's father and current chairman of the Fox News Channel Roger Ailes has tidied up the mess, sent in the clean up crew and Geraldo's back with the boys, what's left to say or do?

oh, just this.

*[NOTE]: "working the refs" as defined by Eric Alterman in his new book “What Liberal Media?”
