Are You A NeoCon?

Take the interactive Neocon Quiz and find out.

The Christian Science Monitor's site has a wonderful Special section dedicated to all things Neocon, titled "Empire Builders: Neoconservatives and their blueprint for US power"; it's well worth reviewing; while there, take a moment to click through an interactive profile of the key neocon figures and top players which is a frightening, if not maddening reminder of just how pervasive and extensive their influence is within the highest levels of power in the Bush Admin, the Pentagon, and U.S. media.

There's also a highly educational Birth of a Superpower Timeline Chart that's worth scrolling through, which walks you through a Timeline of key events in the history of US foreign policy and how U.S. got to where they are now, with an administration front-loaded with this firebrand of ideologues.

Not sure what the hell a neocon is and what they believe in? Take the snappy refresher course with Neocon 101.

Lies and the Lying Liars who tell them*

"Things are getting better,"announced President Bush, on Labour Day to a crowd of rain drenched highway construction workers.

"The economy is beginning to grow" .... "and that's what I'm interested in; I believe there are better days ahead", the President proclaimed earnestly, newly refreshed after returning from his month long Aug. vacation on his Crawford Ranch.

Woo hoo. Who needs facts? Things are looking up because George Almighty says so, so there.

And speaking of measuring the success of a nation based on its leaders' holiday schedule: things must really be under control over there in Iraq despite the U.N. Bombing in Baghdad, the death of top UN envoy Sergio Vieira de Mello and the recent assassination of powerful U.S. ally and moderate religious leader Ayatollah Mohammed Baqir al-Hakim what with U.S. occupation coordinator Paul Bremer kicking back and chillin' on vacation back on the U.S. east coast.

Meanwhile, a car bomb exploded today outside Baghdad Police Headquarters, just a day after a roadside bomb killed 2 U.S. soldiers and wounded another.

Speaking of the wounded, Washington Post reports that U.S. Casualties in Iraq are not only rising, but so are the number of wounded in action which now totals 1,124 since the war began in March, with almost 10 Americans troops a day now being officially declared as "wounded in action";

To add injury to insult to the hundreds of American troops who have been putting their lives on the line for this President and his neocon ideologues, the number of wounded in action are growing so large and commonplace, that U.S. Central Command are issuing news releases listing injuries only when the attacks kill one of more troops, thereby resulting in many injuries going literally unreported.

The Truth about The Mendacity Index of Liars

Suspicious that you might not be getting the lowdown from your unelected leader? You're not alone: so are a panel of noted journalist political experts who were asked to review and compile a list of the top six lies spoken by each of the last 4 U.S. presidents, and then give them to a second panel of top Washington pundits on both sides of the political spectrum to rate the lies on a scale of 1(harmless fibbing) to 5 (egregious lying).

You won't be shocked at the results of which President topped the list of the Mendacity Index.

Neither is TPM's Josh Marshall, who's latest Washington Monthly piece is well worth the read, as he examines the modus operandi behind the Deception, Denial and Relativism of the Bush Administration.

After taking a crack at the Neocon Quiz, why not add your 2 cents and take the Mendacity Poll.

Wolfowitz's Shameful Deceit

And speaking of the mendacity of the Bush Admin and his ideologue brood, neocon architect of the Iraq war, Deputy Sec. of Defence Paul Wolfowitz has the audacity to continue to manipulate the American people's emotions and fears by using the horrors of the acts by Al Qaeda terrorists on Sept. 11, a mere nine days before the 3rd anniversary of that fateful day, with this OpEd in the neocon Wall Street Journal's Editorial pages, in a piece with the Orwellian title "Support Our Troops: Iraq isn't part of the war on terror? Try telling the soldiers that."

Intentionally blurring the differences between an attack on American soil by Osama bin Laden's Al Qaeda terrorists with the bombing and surprise attacks on American troops that were sent into a preemptive war on a country that did not provoke or pose an imminent threat to Americans on American soil, Wolfowitz propagandizes:

"One soldier, a mother of two, told Christy she'd enlisted because of Sept. 11. Another soldier displayed the metal bracelet he wore, engraved with the name of a victim of 9/11. Others came forward with memorabilia from the World Trade Center they carried with them into Baghdad. And when it was Christy's turn to present Gen. Tommy Franks with a piece of steel recovered from the Trade Towers, she saw this great soldier's eyes well up with tears. Then, she watched as they streamed down his face on center stage before 4,000 troops.

To those who think the battle in Iraq is a distraction from the global war against terrorism . . . tell that to our troops. "

Oh really? How about telling this to those troops and their families back home in America Mr. Fucking Wolfowitz: 335 young American men and women troops named and seen here, would still be alive persuing their dreams, kissing their children, sharing birthdays and holidays with their parents and graduating from college and an additional 1,124 troops wouldn't have been wounded, now limbless, emotionally and physically scarred for life and wondering how they're ever gonna get their lives back to "normal" -- if their so-call patriotic flagwaving President hadn't boldfaced stonecold lied.

You have blood on your hands, you arrogant fuck. Live with that for eternity.

One can only imagine dread what kind of shellgame and sleight of hand con the Bush Neocon cabal and their WMD "inspector" David Kay have got up their sleeves and are planning to roll out as this fall's new "product line".
